Howdy everyone. It has been brought to my attention that I failed to include any information about the arrival or start times fore the ceremony! If you're planning on coming (and we know you can't keep yourself away)you should plan on arriving at The Property around 4:00P.M. The ceremony is supposed to begin at 5:00P.M.

Weather, clothing, and other questions...
Hi everyone. We're in the final countdown to the big party! We've received a few questions regarding what to wear, what to gift, etc. I wanted to address these questions here.
The Property:
The woods we're marrying in, what we lovingly call "The Property," is the home of Larry Guess, as well as R.J. & Claudia Gonzalez-Guess. There is a lot of space here, but very little paving. So be prepared for dirt and gravel roads, soft ground, grass, etc. Most of the property is on a relatively steep hillside.
Weather
Weather in this area in late May is warm. The Almanac places the average temperature in the mid to high 70s F. With the way our weather has been going this year, I would not be surprised if it gets to the mid 80s F or warmer. With that in mind, this is a woodsy casual affair. Please don't fret about formal or fancy dress. Nathan and I will not be wearing tuxedos (I know, it's a travesty, but I wore enough cummerbunds in High School), so please wear comfortable shoes and clothes. To those ladies and gentleman who like wearing heels, I would advise against it this time around.
Allergies
If you are not familiar with the area, Grass Valley is a high pollen zone in the spring and it has been known to snow yellow pollen from the oaks on the property. We're thinking the pollen plight should have passed by the 24th, but if you are susceptible to pollen allergies, it mightn't hurt to come prepared.
Gifting
We had planned on this being a non-gifting wedding. This event is meant to be a celebration of not just our love, but of our great and extended family. Your presence at this celebration is the only gift we ask for. That being said, if you are someone who feels a burning need to give things, please feel free to donate to theJudith Guess Memorial Scholarship at Cal State Long Beach, or contribute to the Booze fund for our celebration.
What Else is there?
Since many of you are coming for the weekend, here are some other things to see and do in the area:
History and site seeing
Empire Mine State Park
Northstar Mine Powerhouse & Pelton Wheel Museum
Downtown Grass Valley
Downtown Nevada City
Nature Stuff
Malakoff Diggins: An historic mine turned state park.
Collins Lake: Umm...it's a lake.
Swimmin Hole?
If you're planning on sticking around on Sunday, May 25th, there may be a trip to the South Yuba River in order! There are several nice places to spend a warm sunny day at the river. Perhaps a trip to one of these places can wrap up our weekend festivies?
Covered Bridge on the South Yuba River
Old 49 crossing on the South Yuba River
Alright folks, I realize that's a lot of information. If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to holla at us! We're super excited!!

Where the heck is this place?
In the woods!
It looks like this.
Masters Hill Place is a private road off of Bitney Springs Rd in the gray area between Nevada City and Grass Valley. The turnoff is about 2 miles along Bitney Springs Rd after turning off of Rough and Ready Hwy (yes, it's really named "Rough and Ready"). The turn off will be just after Personeni Ln on the left side of the rd (look for the mailboxes on the right). Masters Hill Pl is the second of two drives right next to each other on the left with the "private drive" sign.

Ride Share
Most of y'all are coming from far away. If you'd like to use the comments on this blog for arranging room and/or ride shares, please feel free!
Where to stay when you come to play.
Planning on coming to celebrate with us but not sure yet where to stay?
Here are some places I found in the two old mining towns near the property where it's all going to go down.
Technically Grass Valley is closer than Nevada City, but they're both pretty close, and both are pretty adorable)
Grass Valley
Holiday Inn Express: The Gold Miners Inn
The Sierra Mountain Inn
Nevada City
The Outside Inn
Piety Hill Cottages
Deer Creek Inn
If you're planning on camping on the property: great! Please be sure to let us know so we have an estimate of how many camping folk to expect.

Wedding Arrangements
Greetings Everyone!
We've set up this blog as a sort of "Where-am-I-going-and-how-will-I-get-there?" page for anyone interested in making it to our wedding.
Grass Valley and Nevada City are both awesome towns and are both quite close to the property where we'll be celebrating. Since most of you will be coming from elsewhere (well all of you with the exception of three wonderful people who live there)we thought some of you might like to ride share and/or room share.
With this in mind: on this page you will find links to hotels and motels in the area, as well as points of interest if you want to do a little sight seeing. We will also keep the comments open so you all can discuss and arrange logistics for making your way to where it's all happening.
Yeah! Let's get hitched!
